Daily Juice Report - College Athletes must be on Roids
Let’s start off rightfully so with the absolutely electric game winner from Trey Perry to keep Miami-OH at a whopping undefeated 29-0 this season. Okay, maybe it was just a layup, but holy shit it was an important one. Two more games against Toledo and Ohio and they have the first undefeated season since 2021’s Gonzaga unit with Corey Kispert and Jalen Suggs. Let’s be real though, this classically ends in a first round March Madness exit. Or does it?
Following the trend of insane scoring, Lamine Yamal scored his first professional hattrick today for Barcelona. I mean the kids only 18 and he found the back of the net three times against the third ranked team in the Spanish league. The first 18-year-old to do it since what, 1967? I would have said some insane shit on the mic after that, but no he played it humble too.
Okay, more scoring, but we’ll keep it quick. Besides Jokic transforming into a Serbian Avenger against Lu Dort, it was kind of quiet. Brunson had an unreal, 22-point first quarter against the Bucks. Bro only had 5 points for the entire rest of the game though, so… whatever. Oh yeah, the Celtics also put up 148 as a unit. For a team averaging 115, that’s pretty sweet. Why the fuck is Vucevic on the bench? I understand having Pritchard come off to terrorize secondary units, but we don’t need a whole second starting lineup. Well, actually if we keep putting up 148, I don’t care.
Oh yeah, Vegas also dropped a BALL on the public with the NBA ROTY odds. At the start of the season Cooper Flagg was as expensive as -1100 (clear favorite), but DraftKings readjusted after the break and now we see KON KNUEPPEL leading the way. He’s only at -175, but that’s a pretty dramatic change. I love Knueppel, and I’m personally a Duke fan so this is wildly entertaining. If he wins that’ll be a slap in the face for Flagg who is still having an insane season. At +135 I might have to take that just out of principle.
Okay, lastly… what the HELL kind of steroids are these college kids on at the combine? Sonny and Lorenzo Styles are like some sort of genetically engineered twins or something. I mean… both these guys broke 23-year records for their positions. Next year is going to see some incredible talent. Kenyon Sadiq also broke a 23-year record for the fastest 40 by a TE, and don’t even get me started on Taylen Green out of Arkansas. He broke THREE RECORDS among QBs. I swear this is some seriously exciting stuff.
I also understand college rivalries, but it’s kind of pussy behavior for a bunch of Indiana fans to show up and “boo” Carson Beck at the combine. The season’s over, y’all won and I sincerely mean congratulations. Let’s not act like Indiana football will be competitive for another 10 years though.
Well, that’s it. Let’s see what tomorrow brings!
